PROJECT:
Volunteers will be engaged mainly in biological horticulture and general maintenance such as coating, cleaning or building. Especially in summer there will be a lot of tasks in the garden such as watering, weeding or planting, but also collecting fruits and vegetables.
Depending on the volunteers’ abilities and the organisation’s needing volunteers can also be involved in other activities of Oikos such as in the office.



PARTICIPATION FEE and WORKING SCHEDULE :

There is no participation fee for the volunteers.
Volunteers have to agree to work 18h a week with a flexible timetable.

Daily working hours: 3h or 4h
Days off: 2 days a week, not necessarily the weekend.
Duration: between 2 and 6 months


FOOD AND ACCOMMODATION:
In the evening we have typical Italian dishes. In case you do not stay for diner we need you to inform us one day in advance. When you stay for diner, we need you to lend a hand in the kitchen. Breakfast and lunch you have to prepare by yourself, we only provide basic ingredients.
Volunteers are accommodated in a simple shared (with 1 or 2 other volunteer) room with shared bathroom.


Our headquarters in a southern suburb of Rome is the place where volunteers and permanent staff are living. It takes around 30-40 minutes to reach Rome’s city centre.

*flexible regarding your tasks and working times, it is possible that we need you sometimes to give a hand with other activities organised by OIKOS

We are of the opinion that sharing an idea and a vision is important to ensure an efficient and comfortable working atmosphere, therefore we expect our staff members to take part in the activities we organise. To put in a nutshell, this project is first of all an experience to get to know an organisation and its staff sharing for a while their lifestyle.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
English or Italian language skills are required.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
As we often had the experience that applicants who have been accepted as an OIKOS volunteer, canceled their participation at the very last moment or did no show up without informing us, we need the applicants to pay a deposit of 100,00 euro at least 7 days before the project start.The caution will be paid back to the volunteer at the end of his volunteer experience.

1.In case the volunteers decides not to come, or decides to drop out of the project after 30 days , the amount of 100,00 euros will not be paid back.

2.In case the volunteer has already paid the 100,00 euros to OIKOS and wants to change the date of the project's start, he will get paid back the 100,00 euros 30 days after the new starting date .


We can only accept volunteers who agree to this conditions.
